NOTICE: WIRE FRAUD ATTEMPTS ARE AT AN ALL TIME HIGH.

NEVER TRUST WIRING INSTRUCTIONS SENT VIA EMAIL.

Never trust wiring instructions sent via email. Cyber-criminals are hacking email accounts and sending emails with fake wiring instructions. These emails are convincing and sophisticated. They can even seem to be from your your boss, co-worker, a family member or friend. Do not trust wiring instructions sent by email from anyone.

  • Request for changes, immediate action, or lack of availability by phone should be met with intense scrutiny. Do not be pressured. Slow down and follow your company process and trust your gut instinct. If something seems off — it probably is.
  • ALWAYS independently confirm wiring instructions in person or via a telephone call to a trusted and (previously) verified phone number. NEVER wire money without double-checking that the wiring instructions are correct and are verified person-to-person.
  • Wire transfers are the same as sending cash. A wire transfer cannot be reversed.
  • You should not send a wire to anyone you do not know or have not thoroughly investigated

West Texas National Bank™ values your business and your privacy and strives to provide you with the most secure banking environment.

Given the prevalence of sophisticated and nuanced banking fraud, we caution you to verify all details when making wire transfer requests.

  • Can you confirm who requested it?
  • Do you know the beneficiary?
  • Does the request make sense?
  • Does anything seem “off”?

If you have any questions or concerns please contact your local branch or our Treasury Management Department at 1.877.493.7862 PRIOR TO SUBMITTING OR APPROVING A WIRE TRANSFER request.
